Job description

ABOUT MITHRL
We imagine a world where new medicines reach patients in months, not years, and where scientific breakthroughs happen at the speed of thought.
Mithrl is building the world's first commercially available AI Co-Scientist. It is a discovery engine that transforms messy biological data into insights in minutes. Scientists ask questions in natural language, and Mithrl responds with real analysis, novel targets, hypotheses, and patent-ready reports.
Our traction speaks for itself:
  • 12X year-over-year revenue growth
  • Trusted by leading biotechs and big pharma across three continents
  • Driving real breakthroughs from target discovery to patient outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to partner directly with our customers and help them deploy, integrate, and operationalize the Mithrl platform inside their private cloud environments. FDEs sit at the intersection of engineering, customer success, and solutions architecture. You will work hands-on with customer IT, security, data, and R&D teams to set up secure cloud environments, configure integrations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure Mithrl becomes a seamless part of their discovery workflow.
This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, deep comfort with cloud infrastructure, and excellent problem solving skills. You will work very closely with customer teams to design deployment architectures, automate provisioning steps, validate platform functionality in their environments, and ensure that their scientific teams can begin using Mithrl without friction.
If you enjoy solving hard and novel problems in real customer environments, working across cloud infrastructure and product engineering, and being part of the customer's journey from day one, this role is an ideal match.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Deploy Mithrl into customer private clouds including AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Work directly with customer IT and security teams to configure networking, IAM, private subnets, secure VPCs, and data access patterns
  • Build integrations between customer systems and Mithrl APIs for data ingestion or workflow automation
  • Validate deployed environments through functional, performance, and scientific smoke tests
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and connectivity issues in real customer environments
  • Implement automation and internal tools that make deployments faster, more reliable, and more repeatable
  • Serve as a technical advisor to customers during onboarding and through early product adoption
  • Document deployment guidelines, architecture templates, and integration playbooks
  • Collaborate with Mithrl platform engineering, DevOps, and ML teams to resolve issues and drive improvements
  • Ensure that deployments meet customer security standards and internal best practices

WHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications
  • Strong experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience configuring VPCs, IAM, networking, private endpoints, and secure infrastructure setups
  • Software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python or a similar language
  • Experience with container technologies and orchestrators such as Docker, ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues involving networking, storage, compute, and configuration
  • Experience working directly with external stakeholders in highly technical environments
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in complex customer deployments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with customer teams

Nice to Have
  • Experience integrating ML or data heavy platforms into enterprise environments
  • Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience with secure data environments, regulated R&D teams, or biotech customers
  • Familiarity with scientific computing or R&D workflow tools
  • Experience writing internal tools, automation scripts, or lightweight backend services

WHAT YOU WILL LOVE AT MITHRL
  • High ownership and impact: You will work directly with leading pharma and biotech organizations on real deployments. You will solve complex problems across cloud, networking, security, and systems engineering. You will have enormous ownership over how Mithrl operates in customer environments
  • Team: Join a tight-knit, talent-dense team of engineers, scientists, and builders
  • Culture: We value consistency, clarity, and hard work. We solve hard problems through focused daily execution
  • Speed: We ship fast (2x/week) and improve continuously based on real user feedback
  • Location: Beautiful SF office with a high-energy, in-person culture
  • Benefits: Comprehensive PPO health coverage through Anthem (medical, dental, and vision) + 401(k) with top-tier plans

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
