Job description

Summary To direct, review, and evaluate the work of the reimbursement, budget, cost accounting, home and community finance, and managed care contracting managers and to assist the Director of Accounting/CFO and other administrators/department managers in matters related to budget, reimbursement, cost accounting, managed care contracting, and financial operations at the home and community division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates a good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Prepares and enters journal entries into general ledger with accuracy.
  • Gathers and accurately maintains statistical data in Excel.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
  • Processes biweekly payroll and assists employees with password resets, benefits and other payroll information.
  • Assists with audits, data collection, and budgets.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.

Education and/or Experience

Four year university program certificate and five to twelve years related experience.

BBA or BS with a concentration in accounting or finance preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

A minimum of five to twelve years of accounting experience in the healthcare field is preferred.
