Overview

Shimmick is seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer to be based in the greater Los Angeles area. In this role, you will initially support the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, a progressive 19-mile transit corridor connecting North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena. Featuring 22 new stations, the BRT line is designed to provide faster and more reliable transit options, reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality by utilizing zero-emission electric buses.

Southwest Division

Shimmickโ€™s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assist in managing day-to-day project activities and field operations.
    • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
    • Prepare and track RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews.
    • Support cost control, scheduling, and quality assurance efforts.
    • Ensure safety and environmental compliance on-site.
    • Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 8 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Heavy civil transportation infrastructure project experience (roadway, street improvement, earthworks, bridge structures, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous heavy civil construction experience in a self-perform environment.

The salary range for this position is between $140,000-$165,000per year depending on experience and/or education.

Shimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The Company also provides employer paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection.These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
