Job description

Position Summary

The Yard Foreman oversees day-to-day yard operations to ensure the safe, efficient movement of materials, tools, and equipment in support of field operations. This role leads Yard personnel, coordinates equipment readiness and logistics, maintains accurate inventory, and enforces safety standards. The Yard Foreman ensures all equipment sent to the field is properly prepared, inspected, documented, and ready for use.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and direct Yard employees in loading, unloading, and movement of materials using forklifts, loaders, and other material-handling equipment
  • Prepare equipment for field deployment, ensuring it is washed, green-tagged by the Shop, fueled, and ready for use
  • Inspect outgoing loads to ensure compliance with safety requirements and load limits
  • Coordinate and fulfill material, tool, and equipment requests from field crews accurately and on time
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tools, trucks, and assets at the main yard, laydown yards, and job sites
  • Keep yard areas organized, clean, and safe, including proper disposal and recycling of scrap and debris
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Dispatch to schedule equipment availability and movement
  • Perform Yard employee duties as needed to support operations
  • Enforce all safety procedures and ensure Yard personnel follow company safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in yard operations, equipment logistics, or material handling
  • Strong understanding of yard operations, equipment handling, and loading procedures
  • Ability to safely operate yard machinery and material-handling equipment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to read and write in English and complete reports and schedules
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and data entry
  • Basic math skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Work Environment

  • Outdoor yard environment with varying weather conditions, dust, and equipment noise
  • Physical activity including climbing, lifting, pushing, kneeling, standing, and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally
