Summary

The Equipment Yard Manager is responsible for the daily operation, organization, housekeeping, safety, and performance of the NYCC equipment yard. This is a hands-on leadership role that ensures tools, equipment and consumables are properly tracked, maintained, and deployed to support our field teams. This position directly impacts project productivity, cost control and safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • A high degree of overall equipment yard organization and housekeeping maintained at all times.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and repairs, utilizing the software Align, and ensuring all owned equipment is always ‘rental ready’. Coordination of all equipment repairs and maintenance between outside vendors and in-house.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track equipment and consumable usage across multiple job sites utilizing the management software Align (formerly ToolWatch).
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, company policies and local requirements. Report and cooperate with all investigations of any safety incidents.
  • Coordinate with managers to assess equipment needs and availability across all jobs.
  • Utilize company preferred vendors for equipment leasing, repairs, and procurement. Maintain vendor relationships.
  • Monitor equipment lifecycle and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
  • Develop cost-effective maintenance, repair, and labor strategies to control expenses.
  • Lead and manage yard employees, their tasks, training and safety.
  • Train and support field teams on proper equipment use and safety procedures.
  • Work with vendors for tower crane inspections required by NYC DOB.
  • Coordination of loading, shipping, and delivery of equipment and consumables.
  • Coordination with other company departments.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in equipment management within construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, equipment maintenance, and logistics.

  • Understanding of OSHA and safety regulations related to equipment usage,
  • OSHA 30, Forklift Certification, and valid Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma
  • Certifications in equipment management, crane use, or safety compliance are a plus.

Work Environment

Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position. Work is performed in both office and field environments (outdoors). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate heavy equipment.
