Job description

Reports to Executive Vice President Position Summary

The Technical Writing Intern is responsible for developing, documenting, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, workflows, and other process documentation across the organization. This role partners with subject matter experts in Mission Assurance, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and other departments to translate complex business and technical processes into clear, standardized documentation that supports compliance, operational excellence, training, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and document business, operational, engineering, and manufacturing processes.

• Interview subject matter experts to understand complex workflows and technical procedures.

• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, workflows, checklists, and process documentation.

• Translate complex technical or situational processes into clear, concise, and easy-to-follow documentation.

• Develop process maps, flowcharts, and visual aids to support written documentation.

• Ensure documentation aligns with company standards for formatting, revision control, and document management.

• Review documentation with stakeholders and incorporate feedback to ensure technical accuracy and usability.

• Identify opportunities to improve process consistency, standardization, and documentation across departments.

• Assist with documenting new processes, updating existing procedures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

• Maintain confidentiality when working with proprietary company information, customer requirements, and controlled documentation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Communications, English, Project Management, or a related field.

• Exceptional written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.

• Ability to organize and simplify complex technical and business information.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate documentation.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interview subject matter experts and ask thoughtful questions.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
