Job description

Machine Operator’s main responsibilities are packing finished product (envelopes) into cartons while routinely checking quality. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)


Essential Position Functions:

  • Repetitive handling and packing of envelopes into required packaging.
  • Some machines require a manual feeding process of cut blanks that must be loaded by the machine operator.
  • Pushes button to stop machine in case of malfunction or quality issues.
  • Fans handful of envelopes to inspect them for quality of folding, sealing, printing and gluing applications.
  • Counts pack of envelopes periodically to verify accuracy of mechanical counter.
  • Minimize waste by ensuring waste is segregated properly.
  • Assist machine technicians with simple tasks to get the envelope folding machine back to a run state.
  • Assist in the cleaning of assigned machine regularly.
  • Conducts offline cleaning of printer parts as needed.
  • Trained to operate all envelope folding equipment.
  • Review and understand customer requirements listed on the job jacket.
  • Communicate any pertinent information with the incoming and outgoing shifts.
  • Accurate completion of daily production reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read a ruler; basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to read and understand job jackets.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety and quality procedures.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, criminal background check and physical exam.
