POSITION SUMMARY:
The Workforce Planning (WFP) Analyst plays a critical role in optimizing labor across resort operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining cost efficiency. This role leverages data-including weather patterns, seasonality, and guest demand-to develop forecasts, staffing strategies, and scheduling models across key departments (e.g., Lift Operations, Ski & Ride School, Rentals, Food & Beverage, and Guest Services).
This position combines analytical rigor with strong cross-functional collaboration to drive workforce strategy and demand planning.
WAGE:
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resort's salary range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resort's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Salary pay range: $65K - $74K
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workforce Strategy & Forecasting:
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-term workforce forecasts based on demand drivers such as visitation trends, weather patterns, events, and seasonality
  • Build scenario-based staffing models (best/base/worst case) to support decision-making in a highly variable environment
  • Partner with department leaders to align staffing plans with operational needs and financial targets
  • Support annual budgeting, headcount planning, and seasonal hiring strategies

Labor Optimization & Scheduling:
  • Design and refine labor models, staffing standards, and scheduling models across departments (Lift Ops, Ski School, Rentals, F&B, Guest Services)
  • Ensure schedules align with forecasted demand, service expectations, and labor targets
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and scheduling standards.
  • Monitor staffing levels, open shifts, and coverage gaps
  • Partner with frontline leaders to improve schedule efficiency, productivity, and employee experience

Analytics & Insights:
  • Track and analyze key workforce metrics (labor cost, productivity, overtime, service levels).
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations to operational and executive leadership.
  • Identify trends and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Systems & Continuous Improvement:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for workforce management systems (e.g., Workday Scheduling, UKG, Kronos)
  • Ensure data integrity and continuously improve reporting and forecasting tools
  • Train leaders on best practices in forecasting, scheduling, and labor optimization
  • Support system enhancements, implementations, and process improvements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data modeling); experience with Power BI a plus
  • Experience with workforce management systems (Workday, UKG, Kronos, etc.)
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business insights
  • Understanding of labor cost drivers, service levels, and operational performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Begin contributing insights and supporting workforce optimization initiatives

Within 6 Months:
  • Independently manage forecasting, labor analysis, and scheduling processes
  • Deliver strategic insights that influence staffing and operational decisions

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Hospitality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in workforce planning, labor analytics, scheduling, or operations analysis
  • Experience in hospitality, resorts, theme parks, or other seasonal/demand-driven environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of labor laws and scheduling best practices

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Full-time, year-round role with peak-season weekend/holiday support
  • Combination of office and on-mountain work
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions in a mountain environment
  • Ability to ski or snowboard across terrain at Alterra resorts
  • Regular use of computer and office equipment; moderate noise environment
  • On-site at Winter Park Resort
