Job description

POSITION TITLE:              Goodwill Connect! Assistant Manager
STATUS:                             Non-Exempt / Full-Time
DEPARTMENT:                  5500 Goodwill Connect!
REPORTS TO:                   Goodwill Connect! Manager
SAFETY SENSITIVE:         HIGH - Position is subject to pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening.
** Regular on-site attendance and travel to other locations in GIRE service area is required. **
This is a full-time 40 hours per week position working in our Goodwill Connect Program for the Workforce Development Department.  This position is eligible for company benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.  
Location - Yolanda Administrative Offices - 651 Yolanda Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 with travel to other locations including the Stony Point Store - 2007 Sebastopol Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 and the Rohnert Park Store - 476 Rohnert Park Expressway, Rohnert Park, CA 94928. 
The starting wage for this position is $26.50 per hour. 
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB:  The Goodwill Connect! Assistant Manager, with guidance from the Goodwill Connect! Manager, will engage in a wide spectrum of activities to both deliver and expand service offerings to the public and ensure consistently high quality of programs and services. The Assistant Manager provides leadership to staff, serves as backup for the Goodwill Connect! Manager, and represents the agency at meetings and events in the community. Working hours of the Goodwill Connect! Assistant Manager may vary to meet the needs of the program and some evening and weekend work will be required.

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: Serve as supervisor to the Goodwill Connect! staff in the absence of the Goodwill Connect! Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SERVICE DELIVERY
 
  • Collaborate with the Goodwill Connect! Manager to continually assess opportunities for improvement of current services and design and implement new Goodwill Connect! service offerings.
  • Coordinate staffing to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of services.
  • Represent and promote programs and services to employers, community-based organizations, partners or others as appropriate to increase referrals, work placement opportunities and collaborative service delivery.
  • Actively engage the community to identify needs and recommend innovations and new services to meet those needs.
  • Work directly with participants including community members and GIRE staff to assess skills, interests, academic and career goals, work/life support needs, and health and financial well-being.
  • Understand the fundamentals of all GIRE programs and service offerings, be able to adapt them for use as part of Goodwill Connect! and/or help community members connect with mission services staff members who have the relevant expertise.
  • Provide work readiness training and support services such as resume building, job search skills, mock interviews, soft skills development, and job coaching.
  • Assess digital skills competencies and provide digital skills training, utilizing the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator® methodology and offerings.
  • Provide guidance and referrals to resources in the community that will assist participants in attaining educational, career, or life goals.
  • Organize, build content for, and/or deliver classes, workshops, and other events that address the needs of community participants.
  • Gather participant feedback to assess effectiveness of services and identify new service offerings.

TEAM MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
 
  • Support the Goodwill Connect! Manager in setting the current and future vision and implementing plans and processes to achieve both short- and long-term goals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing annual program evaluation objectives.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for staff.
  • Provide training and guidance to Goodwill Connect! staff on Workforce Development  and program policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Supervise staff in Goodwill Connect! Manager’s absence, including ensuring timecards and other employee records are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of qualified staff.
  • Provide input into the annual performance evaluations.

REPORTING AND PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
 
  • Own and oversee others in the collection, formatting, and analyzing of data for use both in external reporting and for internal purposes.
  • Ensure timely development and submission of internal and external reporting.
  • Ensure client-related records, including database entries and files, are current, accurate, updated on a timely basis and meet organizational, contractual, CARF and other relevant standards.
  • Create and update program design, procedure manuals and other key program documentation in alignment with organizational, contractual, CARF and other relevant standards.
  • Assure CARF standards are met.
  • Support the management of Goodwill Connect! facilities.
ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participant information and other appropriate materials.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, unsafe vehicles, or other unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Conduct self in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, including safety and online safety training.
  • Serve as backup for other members of the Mission Services team as needed.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least two years of experience delivering educational/career navigation services, human services programs or similar relevant experience.
  • At least two years of experience supervising staff and/or program participants.
  • Must be fingerprinted and approved by the Department of Justice prior to start of work.
  • Valid CA Class C Driver’s License and proof of personal auto insurance
  • Must have access to a reliable passenger vehicle that supports completion of essential and ancillary functions of the position.
  • Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate that the essential functions of the job can be performed, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite including:
    • Teams: Managing Teams/channels, using functions such video meetings/calls, sharing content, posting/chatting.
    • Powerpoint: Preparing and delivering presentations using functions such as inserting pictures/shapes/SmartArt, animations and transitions.
    • Word: Creating and formatting documents, using functions such as track changes, tables, and headers/footers. 
    • Excel: Creating and managing budgets and reports, using functions such as formulas, sorting, and filtering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Clean, well-ventilated office space, overhead lighting, inside on carpet/linoleum, tile or cement floors, temperate climate, and constant exposure to moderate business noise levels, such as office machines, conversations, and foot traffic. Frequent interactions with general public. Will also experience normal conditions related to traveling by car from one location to another.  
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Standing/sitting intermittently throughout the work shift; repetitive finger movements with frequent computer use; bending and stooping.  Good visual acuity.  Ability to regularly lift and move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
