Job Description We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing and optimizing enterprise databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar platforms, with development and automation expertise in infrastructure as code and a proven ability to lead migrations, performance tuning, and automation initiatives that improve availability, scalability, and reliability. Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain highly available and scalable database solutions across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar. Plan and execute database migrations across environments, including on-premises to AWS cloud (RDS/Aurora), version upgrades, and cross-platform moves with minimal downtime. Lead database development, optimization, and automation initiatives aligned to infrastructure as code and DevOps practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, implement best practices, and ensure data integrity and security. Develop and maintain scripts and tools for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning. Provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Participate in capacity planning, backup and recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning. Document architectures, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance. Required Skills & Qualifications: Expertise in database administration and development with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar RDBMS platforms. Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python and IaC frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. Experience with database migration strategies and tools, including schema and data migrations and cross-platform migrations. Hands-on experience with AWS database services, including Amazon RDS and Aurora for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and optimization. Strong performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing skills. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and DevOps methodologies. Knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery best practices. 8-10 years in database development, administration, or technical leadership roles. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL. Prior work in Agile or Scrum environments and experience mentoring technical teams.
