Job Description:
The Workday Technology Lead (Platform & Governance) is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the Workday platform, including governance, security, integrations, and production change management. This role sits within IT and ensures Workday operates as a controlled, scalable enterprise platform, aligned to both business needs and audit/compliance requirements.
This is not a traditional configuration role. The Technology Lead establishes and enforces how changes are made, governed, and promoted to production, while partnering with Finance, HR, and other business teams who execute day-to-day configuration within defined guardrails.

Accountabilities:
Own the overall Workday platform governance model, operating standards, control framework and security model, including role design, access provisioning standards, and periodic access reviews
Define and enforce segregation of duties (SoD), audit controls, and configuration guardrails across HCM and Financials
Establish high-risk vs. low-risk configuration standards, including clear ownership and approval requirements
Intervene directly in configuration changes for complex or high-risk configurations, those requiring advanced technical expertise and those that cannot be supported under the Workday Success Plan
Serve as the final authority on production readiness and change promotion for high-risk configurations
Provide oversight and guidance for complex or high-risk configuration changes
Define when Object Transporter or other migration tools are used vs. manual promotion
Partner with business teams to balance access needs with risk controls
Oversee Workday semi-annual releases, ensuring structured impact assessment and coordinated UAT with the business
Own all Workday integrations with external systems, including Accounting Center and other downstream platforms
Partner with integration teams to ensure scalable, supportable, and well-governed integration patterns
Ensure integrations align with enterprise architecture standards and data governance principles
Evaluate when to leverage external partners vs. internal capabilities
Ensure platform stability, performance, and continuous improvement
Partner with Finance, HR, and other stakeholders to align priorities, roadmap, and operating model
Drive clarity on roles and responsibilities between IT and business teams
Provide guidance and mentorship to configuration analysts and business users
Own New member onboarding and large-scale transformation project executions
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of Workday Financials and/or HCM, including core business processes
Hands-on experience with Workday security, business process framework (BPF), and integrations
Experience owning or supporting enterprise SaaS platforms with governance and control models
Proven experience with change management, release management, and production support in a controlled environment
Familiarity with audit, compliance, and segregation of duties (SoD) principles
Experience managing or supporting Workday integrations and external system connectivity
Ability to operate as a hands-on leader balancing technical depth with platform-level ownership
Strong communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment across IT and business stakeholders
Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models preferred
Pay Range:
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$105,000 - $130,000 annual base salary depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location
