Student - Hammond School District Tutor

Job Description:
Job Summary
This position provides direct academic tutoring and educational support to Hammond School District K-12 setting. The tutor works directly with students to strengthen academic skills, reinforce classroom learning, and support overall student success. This role is designed to benefit the community at large by providing educational assistance to students through individualized and small-group instruction.
Start Date: Students can start on August 17th, 2026.
Availability: During School Hours Monday- Friday 8am-4pm
Locations: you would be at one of the following - Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Harding Elementary, and Burns-Hicks elementary

Summary of Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring to students to support academic skill development in core subject areas such as reading, writing, and math
  • Reinforce teacher-provided instruction and learning objectives through guided practice, skill review, and homework support
  • Encourage positive study habits, academic confidence, and student engagement in learning activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and program supervisors to support student learning goals and align tutoring efforts with classroom instruction
  • Communicate appropriately with students and, when applicable, families to support academic progress and participation
  • Maintain basic records related to tutoring sessions, including attendance and student progress, as required for program accountability
  • Follow all school district and organizational policies related to student safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct
