Job description

Description:

Background

ClimeCo is a global sustainability company headquartered in Houston, Texas, with projects and partners all over the world. Our mission is to advance the low-carbon future and restore nature with market-based solutions. We offer comprehensive services spanning environmental asset innovation, ESG and climate strategy consulting, regulatory and policy advisory, environmental credits, API solutions, and climate action certification programs.

Our growing team of respected scientists and industry experts collaborate with companies of all sizes, governmental groups, NGOs, and capital markets players on ESG, decarbonization, and policy issues—allowing us to develop high-quality, purpose-built end-to-end sustainability solutions with measurable impact. We are steadfastly committed to educating and empowering our clients, no matter where they are in their sustainability journey, to be confident in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

We are seeking a Human Resources Intern.

This internship is built for students and early-career professionals who are curious about HR and want real, hands-on experience—not busy work. You will partner directly with ClimeCo’s Talent Acquisition & Development Manager to support recruiting, HR technology, employee engagement, and HR operations.

No prior HR experience is required. We are looking for someone organized, curious, and genuinely interested in learning how a lean People function operates inside a fast-growing environmental firm. You will leave this internship with practical skills, a portfolio of real HR work, and a clearer sense of where you want to take your career.

Based on your interests and availability, your internship will include work in one or more of the following areas:

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

Get a behind-the-scenes look at how ClimeCo attracts and hires mission-aligned talent:

• Review incoming job applications and organize candidate materials for hiring teams

• Help coordinate and schedule interviews across multiple time zones

• Support job posting creation and distribution across platforms

• Learn how to evaluate candidates against role criteria

• Gain hands-on experience inside Paylocity, ClimeCo’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

HR Technology & Systems

HR technology is one of the fastest-growing areas of the profession. You will work inside Paylocity to:

• Build and optimize workflows that save the HR team time

• Create templates for recurring processes like onboarding and performance check-ins

• Organize employee profiles and documentation for compliance readiness

• Run HR reports to surface workforce data and trends

• Identify system inefficiencies and propose practical solutions

Employee Engagement & DEI

Engaged employees do better work. You will support the programs and communications that keep ClimeCo’s team connected:

• Partner with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) Council on all-staff programming

• Draft content for monthly engagement posts and internal communications

• Help coordinate virtual events and team-building initiatives

• Support employee recognition programs and milestone tracking

• Research DEIB best practices and bring fresh ideas to the table

HR Operations & Compliance

The operational backbone of HR is where the profession earns its credibility. You will:

• Assist with file management and recordkeeping best practices

• Research compliance topics spanning employment law and benefits regulations

• Support benefits administration and open enrollment coordination

• Help draft HR policies, procedures, and process documentation

• Learn how a small HR team manages the full employee lifecycle

What you will learn

By the end of your internship, you will have direct experience with:

• The full recruiting lifecycle—from job posting to offer

• HRIS platforms and how HR technology supports workforce decisions

• Employee engagement strategy in a remote, mission-driven organization

• HR compliance fundamentals and documentation best practices

• How a lean People function scales impact without adding headcount

• The intersection of sustainability, business, and people strategy

Requirements:

You do not need prior HR experience to apply. We are looking for someone who brings:

• Genuine curiosity about Human Resources, People Operations, or organizational development

• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with confidential information

• Clear, professional written communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a remote setting

• Collaborative spirit and willingness to ask questions

• Interest in sustainability, climate, or environmental markets (a plus, not a requirement)

• Current enrollment or recent graduation in HR, Business, Communications, Psychology, or a related field

Logistics

  • The internship will run from mid-July to November 2026.
  • During the summer, you can work up to 40 hours per week, and once school is back in session, the internship will require 10-20 hours per week, depending on the candidate's availability.
  • Salary is based on experience and location and can range from $15 to $22 per hour.
