Job description

Oracle Java Technical Project Lead

Contract • Fully Remote • Immediate Start • US Citizens & GC Holders Only

Pay Rate: $65–85/hr W2 | Weekly Pay | 6 - 12 Month Contract

Overview

We are placing three Oracle Java Technical Project Leads on a 6 month contract supporting a major enterprise Oracle Java removal and OpenJDK migration program across approximately 20,000 Windows endpoints. This is a hands-on Project Lead role — leading the program end to end, owning the technical execution, and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders from Endpoint Engineering, SCCM, Security, Architecture, Help Desk, and business owners. The work spans discovery, remediation planning, pilot, enterprise rollout, and security hardening to prevent reinstallation.

What You'll Own

  • Lead the overall Oracle Java removal program — project plan, risks, escalations, executive reporting, and weekly status communications
  • Inventory Oracle Java installations across approximately 20,000 endpoints and establish baseline compliance metrics
  • Identify Java-dependent applications, validate vendor support, identify hard-coded references, and test against OpenJDK
  • Partner with application owners and vendors on compatibility validation
  • Develop and validate removal processes using PowerShell, batch scripting, WMI/CIM, and registry analysis
  • Partner with SCCM team to package and deploy Java removal and OpenJDK distribution
  • Partner with BeyondTrust team to prevent unauthorized Java reinstallation

What You Bring

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Java (JRE/JDK) and OpenJDK distributions
  • Java version management, JRE vs. JDK requirements, JAVA_HOME, PATH, and environment variable troubleshooting
  • Advanced PowerShell, batch scripting, WMI/CIM, and registry modification for automated software discovery and removal
  • SCCM packaging and enterprise endpoint deployment at scale
  • Application compatibility assessment with vendor engagement
  • Experience leading enterprise remediation programs with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong executive-level reporting and stakeholder communication
  • BeyondTrust or similar PAM tool familiarity preferred
  • Available for immediate start, willing to commit 100% to 6 months
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident — no sponsorship

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65–80/hr W2, paid weekly
  • Medical coverage: PPO and HMO options available
  • Dental and vision coverage

Important Details

  • Fully remote
  • 6 - 12 month contract with an immediate start
