Job description

Job Summary: Our lube technicians provide important, regular, necessary maintenance procedures for our customers such as oil changes, tire rotations and multipoint inspections.  They are our customers’ most frequented service providers and set the tone for the level of service our organization can provide!

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performs maintenance services on vehicles according to the repair order and following the standard operating procedure of WMI.  This includes a multi-point inspection on every vehicle.
  • Communicates any additional work that may be required to the service advisor and documents work done and work needed accurately in the repair order.
  • Protects the customer’s vehicle during service and returns the vehicle in the same or better condition.
  • Double checks vehicles, upon completion looking for any leaks, verifying any necessary resets have been done, making sure bolts and lugs are tightened appropriately, ensuring that any concerns noted during the inspection process are appropriately documented, etc..,
  • Utilizes standby time between jobs to perform training, clean and perform maintenance in their respective bays, perform daily cleaning tasks in the shop such as picking up towels, mopping, taking out scrap and tires, cleaning the center storage area in the shop, greasing lifts, etc… or assisting senior technicians, as requested.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the Service Advisor or Service Managers.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Vehicle maintenance – knowledge and skill to perform routine maintenance items on various vehicle makes and models.
  2. Attention to detail – ability to follow a checklist of items, performing each step completely, and accurately documenting the tasks performed and the findings during each stage.  Double checks their work to ensure vehicles leave in safe, clean condition.
  3. Time management – ability to perform most basic services inside one hour. If a service requires more time, notifies the service advisor as soon as possible so that the customer may be kept informed.
  4. Communication – ability to communicate verbally and in writing to detail workload, describe vehicle needs, findings of inspection, and more.  Works well as part of a team.
  5. At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.  Able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
