Join our team of IT Operations professionals providing support to a large group of software developers and engineers. Our IT Operations staff are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects.
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking professionals with a background in Information Technology support for an exciting opportunity as a Senior Cloud Systems Administrator/Helpdesk Manager with our Operations Team.
The successful applicant will administer, develop, configure, implement, and maintain the systems that comprise the underlying cloud platform. Maintain public and/or private cloud systems and deploy them in an automated way; and monitor, move, and alter the systems using a prescribed methodology.
Establish and implement standards for cloud operations according to specifications and parameters. Determine business needs and select and support tools to meet them.
Maintain and build upon existing network and domain environments. Design and implement new on-premises and cloud systems while implementing best practices and industry standards. Identify and drive opportunities to improve operational workflows. Create and maintain custom scripts using powershell, python, and bash. Create detailed documents and diagrams for all IT infrastructure
Tier 3 Cloud Systems Admin Position Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen (No green card)
  • Eligibility to apply for and hold a US security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
  • Ability to work Hybrid in-office schedule and in office as needed
  • BS or higher in computer science, IT, engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field
  • 8+ years relevant work experience with BS
  • 6+ years relevant work experience with MS
  • Successfully acquire 8570/8140 IAT Level 2 Certification (Sec+) within sixty (60) days and maintain it
  • Experience managing a team
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Relocation to Raleigh NC. This position involves minimal travel for collaboration with customers and partners.
  • This position requires in office 5 days a week

Tier 3 Cloud Systems Admin Preferences:
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Salt)
  • Experience with Windows and Linux administration
  • Security+ certification
