Job description

Computer World Services Corp (CWS) is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven System Administrator - Citrix who is responsible for the administration, configuration, optimization, and operational support of enterprise Citrix environments supporting NIEHS mission-critical applications. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing virtual application and desktop delivery services across the enterprise.
The Citrix Administrator provides advanced systems administration support within a complex, multi-platform environment, ensuring system availability, performance optimization, capacity planning, and effective user access to business systems.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Citrix Environment Administration
  • Supervise and manage daily configuration and operation of Citrix infrastructure, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments
  • Maintain availability, performance, and stability of virtual application delivery services
  • Manage Citrix farms, delivery controllers, storefronts, and supporting infrastructure components
  • Ensure proper provisioning and management of virtual desktops and published applications

System Operations & Optimization
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity across Citrix environments
  • Plan and implement system optimization strategies to ensure high availability and efficient resource usage
  • Analyze system metrics and performance trends to support capacity planning and scaling decisions
  • Perform proactive maintenance to prevent service degradation and outages

User Access & Application Delivery Support
  • Plan and monitor assistance to users accessing business systems through Citrix platforms
  • Troubleshoot user connectivity, session performance, and application access issues
  • Ensure secure and reliable remote access to enterprise applications
  • Coordinate with service desk and infrastructure teams to resolve access-related incidents

Infrastructure Integration & Coordination
  • Coordinate Citrix infrastructure with Windows Server, Active Directory, and network services
  • Support integration with enterprise applications, databases, and backend systems
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, patches, and system migrations impacting Citrix environments

System Maintenance & Lifecycle Management
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and maintenance of Citrix components
  • Ensure compliance with vendor recommendations, security standards, and enterprise policies
  • Support lifecycle management of Citrix infrastructure, including version upgrades and platform modernization
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and operational procedures

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Incident Response
  • Monitor Citrix system health, availability, and performance metrics
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system issues across virtual delivery environments
  • Provide escalation support for high-impact incidents affecting end-user access
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical system support

Capacity Planning & Reporting
  • Conduct system capacity analysis for Citrix infrastructure and supporting components
  • Forecast resource needs based on usage trends and organizational growth
  • Provide regular reports on system performance, utilization, and availability
  • Recommend improvements to optimize system efficiency and user experience

Required Technical Skills
  • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) administration
  • Citrix StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, and associated infrastructure components
  • Windows Server administration and Active Directory integration
  • System performance monitoring and capacity planning
  • User access management and remote application delivery support
  • Troubleshooting complex virtual environment issues
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and infrastructure connectivity

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Windows Server environments and enterprise user access management

Certifications
  • Citrix CCP-V (or CCA-V minimum)
  • Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
  • Security+
  • ITIL certification preferred
