About The Role
We are adding a new Estates Legal Assistant to our team! This position will focus on preparing and filing NY and NJ Estate documents within surrogate's courts, encompassing petitions/applications for appointment, accounts, adequacy orders, death compromises, and other related tasks. Additionally, this role will coordinate with clients and outside Estate counsel in other jurisdictions. This role is based full-time in our Midtown Manhattan office.
You Will:

  • Assist in preparing and filing NY and NJ Estate documents in surrogate’s courts
  • Draft: Petitions/Applications for Appointment, Letters of Administration, Adequacy Orders, Wrongful Death Compromises, Family settlement agreements and contracts between heirs and beneficiaries
  • Obtaining documents and heirship information from clients and public records searches
  • Assist in managing Estates work across various cases, including Asbestos Personal Injury, Mass Torts, and other personal injury matters
  • Coordinate communication between clients and external estate attorneys
  • Conduct research on estate laws, regulations, and case precedents

You Have:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as an Estate Paralegal
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have:

  • 1+ year of practical experience working within Wills, Trusts, and Estate Law
  • Familiarity with Wills, Trusts, and Estate Law in multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury litigation
