About the Job

The YMCA Arlington is seeking a motivated, energetic, and collaborative Wellness Coordinator to support the success of our Wellness Department. In this leadership-focused role, you’ll work closely with the Associate Executive Director and Association Wellness team to plan, develop, and deliver high-quality programs that increase member engagement, strengthen retention, and support organizational goals.

This is an ideal role for fitness professionals ready to grow into management, expand their leadership skills, and help shape the future of wellness programming at the Y.

As a Wellness Coordinator, you will:

  • Partner with the Wellness team to manage, grow, and improve wellness programs that align with YMCA mission and business goals
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, schedule, mentor, and support wellness staff
  • Help design and manage dynamic group fitness schedules that reflect industry trends and community needs
  • Coordinate continuing education workshops and professional development opportunities for staff
  • Support community outreach efforts by participating in open houses, events, demonstrations, and promotional activities
  • Track program performance and contribute to reporting, assessment, and improvement initiatives

We’re looking for leaders who bring both technical expertise and a passion for people.

  • Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Health, Fitness, Exercise Science, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal training and group exercise instruction
  • Strong knowledge of exercise science, program design, safety standards, injury prevention, and behavior change
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fitness levels
  • NCCA-accredited Personal Training certification
  • NCCA-accredited Group Exercise certification
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to bend, sit, stand, or pick-up at least 50 pounds
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
  • May require travel throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia Metro Area for meetings and events

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm (some weekends)
