GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Wellness Director, the Program Coordinator I is primarily responsible for the supervision of the Wellness Programs. They will assist in the supervision of the employees including assisting in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff. The supervision of programs includes maintaining and improving the quality and enrollment and retention of participants and being aware of current trends in the field.

KNOW HOW

Ø Must be at least 18 years, have a high school diploma, or its equivalent, and at least 2-3 years of wellness experience.

Ø Current YMCA of the USA Certifications of Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer Instructor or the equivalent are required, or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment.

Ø Skills in Group Exercise Class instruction, communication, leadership, and the ability and desire to work with the diverse needs of YMCA Members.

Ø Above average knowledge in the areas of exercise science, physiology, and biomechanics.

Ø Administrative skills needs for this position include computer skills, personnel management skills, organizational skills, scheduling and record keeping skills.

Ø Exemplary human relation and motivational skills are needed.

Ø Must be able to work as a member of the YMCA Management Team.

Ø This position also requires the continual pursuit of further education in all 3 areas of knowledge: exercise knowledge, administrative and member service.

Ø Excellent communication and organizational skills needed.

Ø Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.

Ø Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention, New Employee Orientation and other department and/or Branch designated training, or the ability to obtain within 60-90 days of employment.

Ø Administrative skills including ability to maintain appropriate program documentation and statistical report
