What does a weekend technical do?

A Weekend Technical is a professional who provides technical support and services during weekends, often in IT, broadcasting, or event production environments. Their responsibilities may include troubleshooting equipment, maintaining systems, and ensuring smooth technical operations outside of regular business hours. Weekend Technicals are essential for organizations that operate continuously or have events during weekends, as they ensure any technical issues are promptly addressed. This role may require a broad knowledge of various technologies and excellent problem-solving skills.

What does a typical weekend look like for someone in a weekend technical role, and how does the work schedule differ from standard weekday positions?

In a Weekend Technical position, you can expect your primary work hours to be during weekends, often covering shifts that extend into evenings or nights to ensure continuous technical support. The role typically involves troubleshooting urgent issues, performing maintenance, and supporting end-users or systems while many weekday staff are off. This schedule allows for more autonomy and can mean handling a broader range of technical challenges independently. Collaboration often occurs remotely with on-call colleagues or through shift handovers, and strong communication skills are important for smooth transitions between teams. The unique schedule can also offer flexibility during the week and opportunities to gain experience managing critical incidents.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend technical support specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Technical Support Specialist, you need a solid understanding of troubleshooting, IT fundamentals, and customer service, typically supported by a relevant degree or technical certifications like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote desktop tools, and knowledge base platforms is commonly required. Strong communication, patience, and multitasking abilities help you resolve issues efficiently and maintain user satisfaction during off-peak hours. These skills ensure reliable technical support coverage, minimize downtime, and uphold service quality when regular staff may not be available.

Job description

Who we are:
At SpotHero, we work as a team to empower people to get everywhere, easier! We're rapidly growing with the mission of bringing the parking industry into the future through technology. Drivers across the nation use the SpotHero mobile app and website to reserve convenient, affordable parking in advance, on-the-go or through their connected cars, and parking operator partners rely on us to help them reach new customers while optimizing their business. We connect the dots with cutting-edge technology, delivering value to both sides of this exciting, evolving marketplace. We've been quite busy, take a peek at some of our recent announcements.
Technical Accounts Specialist at SpotHero:
You will play a key role in supporting the Technical Accounts team by managing day-to-day integration operations, including triaging Integration SMS requests, executing Atom Feed integration configurations and bulk SFDC uploads, and monitoring the #parcs_integrations Slack channel. You will partner with Senior Technical Support Specialists, Senior Technical Accounts Specialists, the Manager, Technical Accounts, and the broader Supply organization to ensure requests, configurations, and partner-impacting issues are addressed promptly and accurately. This role is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in technical operations, the parking industry, and SpotHero's PARCS partner ecosystem.
What you will do:
  • Manage and assign Integration SMS requests, including unassigned and reopened tickets routed in from integrations-support@spothero.com and SFDC. Triage, assign, and escalate to the Senior Technical Support Specialist or Manager, Technical Accounts as appropriate.
  • Execute Validation API/Atom Feed integration configurations and bulk SFDC uploads using SpotHero Admin, Atom Feed Usage, the Atom Feed Worksheet, and Django; partner with the Senior Technical Accounts Specialist and Manager, Technical Accounts on complex configurations and escalate to the Integrations Squad when needed.
  • Diagnose ongoing trends at various supply locations through research, investigation, and understanding of multiple internal systems
  • Work with Operators, PARCS vendors, IT services vendors, Sales Ops, and Growth Managers to support new and existing supply locations on the SpotHero platform
  • Monitor the #parcs_integrations Slack channel on the team's monitoring schedule and route requests to the appropriate SFDC queue.
  • Maintain a healthy Technical Accounts ticket queue in Salesforce, ensuring statuses are accurate, ownership is clear, and aging tickets are surfaced and escalated.
  • Executes PARCS integration onboarding and operational continuity by partnering with the Senior Technical Support Specialist, Senior Technical Accounts Specialist, Growth Managers, the #technical-supply-support Slack channel, and the Integrations Squad.
  • Capture and maintain documentation in Confluence for routine workflows, configuration steps, and monitoring procedures so the team can scale consistently.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and document existing intake, monitoring, and configuration processes; surface ideas to the Manager, Technical Accounts and Senior Technical Support Specialist.
  • Support the broader Technical Accounts team with ad-hoc business requests, queue triage, and bulk data management as needed.

The following experience is relevant to us:
  • 2+ years of experience in customer support, operations, technical coordination, or a related administrative role (technology or parking industry experience a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and triage multiple competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in Salesforce, Slack, Google Workspace, and Confluence.
  • Ability to learn new tools, systems, and workflows quickly.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Interest in growing into a more senior technical role (such as Technical Support Specialist).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

Core Competencies:
  • Action-Oriented - Maintains a sense of urgency to complete tasks and proactively seeks information rather than waiting for it.

  • Collaboration & Team Communication - Works collaboratively with team members and cross-functional partners to complete tasks and achieve shared goals.
  • Multi-Task - Executes on more than one task at the same time while keeping the queue and assigned work organized.

  • Relationship Management - Builds positive working relationships with coworkers and business partners across Supply, Growth, and Integrations.
  • Technical Capability - Curious about how systems and technology work and eager to learn and apply technical concepts such as Atom Feed and API connections.
  • Time Management - Prioritizes work effectively to meet service-level expectations and keep the team's queues healthy.

Tools we use:
  • SpotHero Admin Backend, Salesforce (SFDC), Atom Feed (Usage / Worksheet), Django Admin, Integration SMS, Knowledge Sharing Platform (Confluence preferred), Slack, Google Workspace, Issue and Project Tracking Software (Jira preferred)
  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Sumo Logic
  • Experience with GSuite, Salesforce, Jira and Confluence

Seeking candidates in:
  • Chicago, IL - 1x a week onsite

What we are offering:
  • Career game changer - A truly unique experience to work for a fast-growing company in a role with unlimited growth potential.

  • Uber Eats weekly lunch stipend for in-office days
  • Udemy License and Personal Learning Budget - We support the professional and personal growth of our people by providing everyone with learning resources and development opportunities.
  • Annual parking stipend - Duh. We help people park!
  • The opportunity to collaborate with fun, innovative, and passionate people in a casual yet highly productive atmosphere.
  • Our commitment to allyship has been a central driver of how we Respect Fellow Drivers. You'll have the opportunity to be part of Employee Resource Groups, access allyship learning resources, and actively contribute to our ongoing effort of making SpotHero inclusive for all.
  • Employee programs to grow and support our people such as Discovery Days for Product and Engineering, Gearing up for Aspiring Leaders, and Mentorship Program.
  • Wellness program - a workplace that actively supports your physical and mental wellbeing through ongoing events, initiatives, resources, and thoughtful perks and benefits.
  • A workplace recognized as CityLights award winner by 1871, 2026 Best Places To Work by BuiltIn, Most Loved Workplace Certified by the Best Practice Institute, and recipient of multiple Comparably awards, including Best Company Culture, Best Company for Women, and Best Company for Diversity.

Compensation:
