Job Description

In January of 2024 we launched a brand new service for Young Adults. Each week we have over 3000 Young Adults gathering on Thursday Night for our Young Adult service at 4 different locations. Young Adults travel from all over Southern California to come be a part of what God is doing. God continues to bless our Young Adult Ministry at Mariners Church, and we can't wait to see how He continues to transform this generation. 

The Young Adults Teaching & Young Couples Pastor is responsible for leading and equipping young adults to grow in their faith, develop as leaders, and engage in meaningful community. This role includes teaching at our Thursday Night service, shepherding our Young Couples (Dating, Engaged, and Newly Married) through Pre-Marriage Courses and Young Couples Gatherings. This role reports to the Young Adults Pastor on the Young Adults Team. A full time position, the schedule generally includes weekend services on Thursdays and Sundays, meetings at our office in Irvine, and additional time during the week for a total of 50 hours. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Discipleship: Provide biblical teaching at our Thursday Night service, facilitate group discussions, and offer spiritual guidance as needed.
  • Leadership Development: Identify, mentor, and equip young adults for leadership within the ministry and the broader church community. 
  • Young Couples: Building a thriving community of Young Couples at Mariners Church. This would include a Pre-Marriage Course and gathering events for Young Couples to disciple them and help them build community. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with church leadership and other ministry teams to align young adult initiatives with the overall vision of the church. Thursday Night is a weekend service which means we work closely with our Senior Pastor and our Irvine Lead Pastor as this role is part of the Irvine Congregation. 
Qualifications
  • Education - Seminary degree
  • Experience - 5+ years ministry experience. Working with youth, college, Young Adults, or campus ministries is preferred.
  • A deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to biblical teaching.
  • A passion for ministering to young adults and equipping them for life.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in ministry leadership, discipleship, or volunteer coordination preferred.
  • Ability to teach and communicate biblical principles effectively.
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively.
