Must-Have: 1 year of EPIC experience

Description: The unit requires staff to float to other units based on census needs. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, which may change. Medication systems utilized include Pyxis and Omnicell. Eligible patients include adults in observation status and inpatient overflow. Common diagnoses include chest pain, acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, diabetes, syncope, and permanent pacemaker insertion. Additional patient conditions include stroke work-up, pneumonia, heart failure, COPD, sepsis, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The unit performs cardiac and telemetry monitoring, as well as pulse oximetry monitoring. Responsibilities include patient assessment, coordination of testing and procedures, and collaboration with providers. Staff will provide acute nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop patient-specific care plans. Consultations with specialty services such as cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology are part of the role. Procedures performed within the unit include cardiac telemetry monitoring and permanent pacemaker pacing. Other technical procedures may include TEE, negative pressure isolation, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and level 3 administration of continuous intravenous infusions. IV push medications for inpatient care will also be administered according to policy. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and familiarity with rapid response and code teams.
