Weekend Restaurant Manager

Part-Time | Friday – Sunday | Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant – 324 W Water St, Syracuse NY, 13202

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Weekend Restaurant Manager to lead our team during our busiest days of the week. Working primarily Friday through Sunday, you will oversee all front- and back-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, smooth service during peak volume, and a well-supported staff. This role is ideal for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants a consistent part-time schedule.

Schedule & Availability

  • Part-time: approximately 24–30 hours per week.
  • Primary days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — weekend availability is required and non-negotiable.
  • Shifts include evenings, closing shifts, and weekend lunch & dinner service as scheduled.
  • Must be available on peak holidays and high-volume dates (e.g., Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, holiday weekends).
  • Occasional weekday availability for manager meetings, training, or shift coverage is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as manager-on-duty, directing all restaurant operations during assigned shifts.
  • Lead, coach, and support servers, hosts, bartenders, and kitchen staff throughout service.
  • Manage shift staffing: assign stations, adjust floor plans, and approve breaks based on volume.
  • Ensure fast, friendly, and consistent guest service; resolve complaints and service issues on the spot.
  • Oversee opening and/or closing procedures, including cash handling, register reconciliation, and end-of-night reporting.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and ticket times in coordination with kitchen leadership.
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards in compliance with health codes and company policy.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and large-party seating during peak periods.
  • Communicate shift notes, incidents, and staffing or inventory concerns to the General Manager.
  • Assist with inventory checks, ordering support, and receiving deliveries as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive work environment for all team members.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of restaurant management or shift supervisor experience (full-service preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead a team during high-volume service.
  • Strong knowledge of front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
  • Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and end-of-shift reporting.
  • Food Handler / Food Safety Manager certification (e.g., ServSafe) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Alcohol service certification as required by state/local law, or ability to obtain before first shift.
  • Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older (21+ where required for alcohol service oversight).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hour shifts).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen and dining environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing weekend or peak-period operations at a high-volume restaurant.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and inventory software.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.

What We Offer

  • Consistent, predictable weekend schedule with weekdays free.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Employee dining discount.
  • Opportunity for growth into full-time management.
