Registration Clerk / Radiology Receptionist
Position Summary
Mobridge Regional Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full-time Registration Clerk / Radiology Receptionist to serve as an important first point of contact for patients and visitors. This position is responsible for providing courteous and professional customer service while accurately completing patient registration, scheduling, and administrative duties. The position will work closely with Radiology technologists and other clinical staff to support efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and computer skills, strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Schedule
  • Full-time position, generally scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Some flexibility in the daily schedule may be available based on department needs.
  • Registration responsibilities may require rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Registration & Customer Service
  • Greet patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and professionally, both in person and by telephone.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for patients, guests, medical providers, and hospital employees.
  • Demonstrate an understanding that patients, medical providers, visitors, and hospital employees are all customers.
  • Provide assistance and direction to patients and visitors throughout the registration and check-in process.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Handle customer questions and concerns courteously and work toward positive solutions.
  • Process patient transactions, transfers, discharges, and Emergency Room admissions.
  • Check and review patient charts in the EMR system for accuracy and required signatures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient information in accordance with hospital policies and applicable privacy requirements.

Radiology Reception & Scheduling
  • Schedule, preregister, reschedule, and confirm radiology appointments.
  • Explain check-in procedures, imaging preparation instructions, and next steps clearly to patients.
  • Coordinate with Radiology technologists and clinical staff to ensure appropriate patient flow and timely appointments.
  • Manage urgent add-on appointments when necessary.
  • Monitor the radiology waiting area to ensure it remains clean, organized, and calm.
  • Assist with patient transport as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff regarding appointment schedules and patient needs.

Telephone & Communication
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Transfer calls appropriately and efficiently.
  • Handle telephone inquiries with courtesy and accuracy.
  • Distribute messages to the appropriate individuals or departments.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, providers, technologists, and other hospital staff.

Administrative & Computer Responsibilities
  • Work proficiently in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other required computer systems.
  • Update patient demographic and other registration information accurately.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain accurate appointment information.
  • Scan, file, and distribute paperwork, referrals, reports, and other documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multiple computer operating systems and applications.
  • Maintain attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.
