*This position requires a regular on-site presence at our campus in Wichita, KS.
Communications Project Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to Project & Communication Director
Grade III ($19.30 -$30.30 Based on experience and qualification)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Project & Communication Director, writes and proofreads copy for promotional and creative projects. Manages select creative team projects, ensuring scheduling, communication, details, and project deliverables are achieved.
The incumbent must perform all job duties as outlined in this job description to support ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Schedules and manages timelines for select creative team and ministry projects. Maintains communication with ministry representatives about project details and follows through on project deliverables. (app. 25%)
• Writes and proofreads copy for promotional and creative projects, including worship song lyrics, booklets, digital materials, and printed publications. (app. 25%)
• Writes weekly promotional copy for use and distribution throughout NewSpring's campus and ministries, including announcement video script, weekly news email, promotional graphics, website copy, etc. (app. 10%)
• In collaboration with the Project & Communication Director, plans promotional video content for weekend services and social media. (app. 10%)
• Formats communicators' Scripture and notes for weekend services and distributes throughout various digital platforms. (app. 10%)
• In collaboration with the Project & Communication Director, maintains a churchwide event/announcement promotion calendar based on the church's event schedule and requests from ministry leaders. (app. 5%)
• Coordinates with creative and production team members to ensure creative assets are prepared for weekend services and events. (app. 5%)
• Makes ongoing updates to the church website and app to ensure the presentation of correct information. (app. 5%)
• Assists in the preparation for and execution of special events and ministry initiatives. (app. 5%)
These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.
Requirements
EDUCATION/TRAINING• A minimum of a high school diploma and some college courses in communications required.
• College degree in marketing or communications preferred.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience volunteering or working in ministry.
• Minimum of 3-5 years in Communications, Marketing, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of writing, editing, and/or proofreading required.
• Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Positive temperament, dependability, and professionalism with effective interpersonal skills and the ability to deal courteously with the public.
• Proficient communication, organizational, and coordination skills with the ability to think critically and multitask.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and the aptitude to learn new software programs.
• Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures.
• Ability to remain composed and troubleshoot complex situations.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Advanced proficiency in written English, including accurate use of grammar and the ability to correct errors in copy with attention to detail and a meticulous approach to proofreading.
• Ability to learn and follow a written style guide.
• Ability to maintain NewSpring established quality standards while meeting tight deadlines.
