Job description

Job Title: Content Producer
Location: The Catholic Center

Reports To: Sr. Director of Communications
JOB SUMMARY
The Catholic Times Content Producer generates and edits news and feature content and has the ability to take photographs and record video interviews for The Catholic Times website and diocesan digital media platforms. Evening and weekend availability for assignments required. The position is expected to use personal and editorial judgment in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities of The Catholic Times.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Must have a digital-driven mindset; bring innovative ideas to digital news expansion.
Demonstrate the ability to enterprise fresh and original digital content.
Conduct phone/digital/in person interviews, with regular travel to parishes or other event sites.
Create interactive graphics to complement online articles.
Coordinates advertising acquisitions, campaigns, and reports, and maintains vendor relationships.
Maintain a professional presence on diocesan-related social media platform(s).
Understand the topical and editorial importance of digital story analytics, assignment, coverage, and website ranking.
Assist with proofreading prior to posting on digital platforms.
OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
In-person attendance and punctuality are required.
Complies with federal, state, and local safety laws.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required: Compliance with BCI and FBI background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program.
Education: A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
Experience: A minimum of three years reporting experience is preferred.
Job Related Skills: An understanding of journalism and how to apply it to the Catholic perspective; the ability to serve and lead others; excellent written communication skills and knowledge of digital platforms, including Microsoft and Adobe applications, content management systems, virtual meeting platforms, and digital planning platforms.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment; interview participants at various diocesan and parish events throughout 23 counties. Keeping thorough interview logs.
Language skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions; write articles (AP Style Format), correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, clients, and other employees of the Diocese. Spanish speaking a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret statistics. Ability to use U.S. standards of currency and measurement.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working Environment: The ability to maintain all information as highly confidential.
