Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced CMT / Constructions Materials Testing Operations Manager to oversee daily operations for our third-party testing and inspection firm. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of construction materials testing, and the ability to coordinate field and office activities across multiple regions. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing people, processes in a fast-paced environment, effective communicator and result driven.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee Daily Operations: Manage day-to-day activities across multiple service lines, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.

  • Scheduling & Resource Coordination: Align technician assignments with the appropriate training and certification requirements.

  • Invoice Review & Approval: Verify accuracy of billing, review invoices, and support financial tracking for ongoing projects.

  • Staff Management: Lead staffing efforts including hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee health and safety oversight, and terminations when necessary.

  • Client Relationship Management: Drive client satisfaction and retention through proactive relationship management, issue resolution, and consistent, high value communication.

  • Accreditation & Certification Management: Maintain laboratory accreditation and ensure all personnel certifications remain current and compliant with industry standards.

  • Training & Development: Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to staff to support professional growth and maintain competency.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction

  • Familiar with inspection, and materials testing

  • 3 years in a Leadership or Management capacity

  • Appropriate construction materials testing and inspection certifications (ACI, ICC, NICET, etc.); preferred but not mandatory

  • Ability to perform field inspections, testing, and documentation when needed, if certified

  • OSHA 10 certification required

  • Proven experience in office administration, coordination, or operations support

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Basic understanding of safety practices, OSHA principles, and field compliance requirements

  • Ability to conduct training and assist with onboarding new employees

  • Comfortable attending and leading team, safety, and client meetings

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital filing systems

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Wyoming, and surrounding areas

  • Complete/submit field reports accurately.
