Moderators also help identify suspicious accounts, guide members through community expectations, escalate serious issues appropriately, and nurture a positive environment where people feel comfortable connecting. They model g3 Games' values of kindness, curiosity, playfulness, and psychological safety.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys online communities, cares deeply about creating nurturing digital spaces, and wants to help protect and strengthen the g3 Games community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Oversight & Moderation
    • Monitor Discord channels for rule compliance, member safety, and healthy interactions.
    • Use moderation tools (timeouts, deletes, mutes, warnings, bans) according to established guidelines.
    • Address inappropriate behavior, misunderstandings, or minor conflicts with empathy and clarity.
    • Document incidents and actions taken to maintain transparency and consistency.
    • Remove harmful, inflammatory, or unsafe content promptly and professionally.
  • Member Support
    • Serve as a welcoming presence and resource for community members.
    • Assist new members with onboarding questions, channel navigation, and server norms.
    • Respond to member concerns, reports, or requests for help.
    • Encourage positive engagement through guidance, kindness, and supportive communication.
    • Help create an environment where members feel psychologically safe and connected.
  • Safety & Incident Response
    • Identify suspicious accounts, bots, or behavior that may threaten community safety.
    • Investigate concerns raised by members or flagged by automated tools.
    • Apply moderation actions or escalate issues based on the severity and established protocols.
    • Follow and enforce the g3 Games community guidelines, code of conduct, and safety standards.
    • Support the Discord Administrator and Assistant Director of Community Affairs in recordkeeping and high-level safety reviews.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Participate in regular check-ins with the Discord Administrator.
    • Keep the rest of the Moderator team informed of incidents, trends, or concerns.
    • Coordinate with the Membership Manager when member-specific issues impact onboarding or community engagement.
    • Work with the Communications Leads to ensure announcements and updates are consistent and clearly delivered.
  • Server Culture & Community-Building
    • Model healthy communication, conflict resolution, and inclusive engagement.
    • Encourage positive interactions that reflect g3 Games' mission of connection and growth.
    • Share ideas for community improvements, channel updates, or engagement opportunities.
    • Help maintain a warm, welcoming environment for all members

Qualifications

    • Ability to remain calm, objective, and fair during sensitive situations.
    • Commitment to fostering inclusive, psychologically safe online spaces.
    • Willingness to learn and follow g3 Games' guidelines and moderation protocols.
    • Dependable and able to volunteer consistently.
  • Preferred
    • Prior experience moderating Discord or other online communities.
    • Familiarity with tabletop games or play-centered communities.
    • Understanding of online safety concerns, harassment patterns, and community management best practices.
