Job description

We are seeking an experienced, nimble, driven editor to join our newsletters team. The ideal candidate prioritizes excellent storytelling and will oversee staff writers to shepherd newsletters and other stories from start to finish. This person will work closely with the team's other editors to suggest story ideas, sharpen angles, edit, and write vivid and effective headlines and subject lines. They will also assist in the execution of special projects and experimentation around newsletter growth and engagement, and have occasional opportunities to write.
The ideal candidate will have experience editing news analysis, essays, and reporting on a range of topics, and the confidence and skills to help ambitious writers deliver their best work on a quick turnaround. This person should also be deeply engaged with the news and conversations of the day. This position will at times include night, early-morning, and weekend work.
Qualifications of the successful candidate include:
  • 10 years of editing experience
  • A stellar work ethic and exceptional time management
  • A magazine sensibility, with a passion for ideas-based journalism
  • An eagerness to collaborate and a sense of urgency to publish stories that guide the conversation
  • Knowledge of the current newsletter landscape is a plus

Salary minimum: $105,000; Salary maximum: $125,000
