MAITRE D’ / FLOOR SUPERVISOR
Full Time

Only the Wild Ones is a high-energy hi-fi wine bar and cultural space rooted in music, natural wine, hospitality, and community. Located in the heart of Abbot Kinney we are a destination for both locals and travelers seeking an elevated but unpretentious experience centered around thoughtful wine, beautiful sound, late-night energy, and genuine hospitality.

We are looking for a strong floor leader and hospitality professional to join our team as Maitre D’ / Floor Supervisor — someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, naturally connects with guests, understands flow and energy, and can confidently lead service while maintaining warmth, organization, and calm under pressure.

This role is deeply guest-facing and requires a strong presence on the floor at all times. You are the heartbeat of the room: setting the tone, driving service standards, supporting the team, managing reservations and pacing, and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and taken care of from the moment they walk through the door.

This person must:

• Be a calm, confident, and positive leader who communicates clearly and respectfully with all staff and guests
• Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume nightlife and hospitality environment
• Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple moving parts at once
• Lead with hospitality first — warm, welcoming, intuitive, and solution-oriented
• Understand guest flow, pacing, reservations, waitlists, and floor management at a high level
• Be passionate about wine, music, culture, and creating memorable guest experiences
• Maintain a strong physical presence on the floor throughout service and lead by example

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Maitre D’ / Floor Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in nightly service operations and overall guest experience. This position works closely with management, the wine team, bartenders, servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure the floor operates smoothly, efficiently, and at a high level of hospitality throughout service.

This is a hands-on role requiring excellent communication, quick thinking, emotional intelligence, and the ability to maintain composure in a busy and high-energy environment. The ideal candidate understands how to read a room, manage energy and flow, handle guest recovery gracefully, and support a team through intense service while maintaining a polished and welcoming atmosphere.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Lead nightly floor operations and maintain strong oversight of reservations, seating flow, guest pacing, and service standards.
• Manage the door, reservations, guest arrivals, VIPs, walk-ins, and waitlists with professionalism and warmth
• Ensure strong communication between front door, floor staff, bar team, and kitchen throughout service
• Maintain a highly visible presence on the floor and proactively engage with guests throughout the night
• Support and coach the FOH team in real time to maintain hospitality standards and service flow
• Assist in resolving guest concerns quickly, calmly, and professionally
• Help oversee service execution during peak volume and high-pressure shifts
• Monitor music, lighting, atmosphere, cleanliness, and overall guest environment throughout service
• Work closely with management on special events, activations, private dinners, tastings, and programming nights
• Help drive wine sales and guest engagement through thoughtful hospitality and floor presence
• Maintain strong knowledge of menus, wine offerings, cocktails, and nightly features
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and uphold all company operational standards
• Maintain and enforce responsible alcohol service and workplace safety standards
• Communicate effectively and promptly with leadership regarding operational issues, staffing concerns, or guest feedback

Team & Leadership Responsibilities:

• Be a positive and motivating presence for the team during service
• Support training and development of hosts, servers, support staff, and bartenders
• Lead with professionalism, accountability, fairness, and consistency
• Maintain clear and respectful communication with all departments
• Be solution-oriented and adaptable in a constantly evolving service environment
• Have strong working knowledge of reservation systems, Toast POS, Google Workspace, and restaurant technology platforms
• Be punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, and highly organized
