Job description

WFRV-TV Local 5, has a unique opportunity for students to intern in our Sports department. Internships are for college credit and must be coordinated with your faculty advisor or professor. Hours at the station will be coordinated with the intern, but generally are in the evening and weekends. Interns will have the opportunity to practice sports journalism skills while helping WFRV staff with the daily sports news gathering operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch sports news story ideas

  • Write stories for newscasts and website

  • Answer phones

  • Conduct interviews with (and without) photographers

  • Shadow reporters/photographers

  • Set up interviews

  • Log recorded interviews for reporters & anchors

  • Work on photography and editing skills

  • Work on producing skills

Requirements

  • Able to work 18 to 20 hours a week

  • Must be able to receive college credit

  • This is an unpaid internship
