Job description

The Industrial Design team is seeking a talented and passionate Principal Industrial Designer to work on our next-generation of devices and accessories. You will be working with a unique and gifted team developing exciting products for consumers. The team is a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists engaged in a fast-paced mission to deliver the new products.

The team faces a challenging task of balancing cost, schedule, and performance requirements. You should be comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, and contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating leadership, technical competence, and meticulousness.
Key job responsibilities
This Designer will be directly responsible for delivering all aspects of the physical experience, from concepts and prototypes all the way to production. This designer will lead and work collaboratively within a team of other designers, researchers, engineers and program managers, creating a holistic product experience at the highest standards for our customers.
A successful candidate will deliver world-class design solutions and have the creativity and judgment to translate a customer centric design vision into concepts that are simple, intuitive and visually refined despite underlying complexity or constraints

This designer will possess an exceptional eye for detail, form and proportion and must embrace a highly iterative approach to design informed by the latest technologies and industry trends. Additionally, this designer must be articulate and possess the communication skills to convey proposals and specifications to other teams and disciplines within the organization at all levels.
This position is expected to lead the most demanding projects, pushing the limits of the Industrial design while collaborating with other discipline and departmental leaders. This position helps advance Industrial Design practices through deep understanding of the specific design field and related technologies, identifying and mastering best-in-class methods and processes for achieving creative excellence in current and future Amazon products

Consistently exhibiting the ability to break new ground within the field of Industrial design. This position may or may not have direct reports but demonstrates thought leadership and influence both within their org and outside it. As the senior-most individual contributors in their respective specialties, Principal Industrial Designers are recognized industry leaders; their professional opinions are sought routinely by colleagues and the larger organization.

They demonstrate Amazon's core values and leadership principles and have the skills to build consensus and share ideas that could be implemented cross-company.
