Job description

The Opportunity:
Caraway Home is looking for an Industrial Design intern to support our Product Design team in the office (up to 40 hours total, depending on workload). This internship will play an active role in concepting and all phases of product development. You'll have hands-on experience and will contribute to real products that get made. The team operates in a high-paced, dynamic environment requiring flexibility, a commitment to excellence, and a win-as-one teamwork mentality.
Our office is located in Los Angeles (Arts District). The candidate is responsible for their own transportation to and from the office space.
Who You Are:
You love products and are passionate about creating great objects everyday. Are a highly driven and detail-oriented individual who can operate independently with limited instruction. You are eager to learn and should take initiative on specific tasks throughout the office, from sketching and idea generation, to prototyping and testing, to general organization and team support.
Responsibilities:
  • Explore a range of visual directions, sketching concepts
  • Support ideation through mockups, including 3D printing and model assembly, photography, and testing
  • Participate in brainstorms and collaborative design team activities
  • Ensure innovation by actively researching, sharing and implementing new trends and materials
  • Effective, articulate design communication and decision-making skills

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design
  • Strong CAD skills (Rhino and/or SolidWorks preferred), proficiency in Google Slides.
  • Strong rendering skills (Keyshot).
  • Ability to retouch photography and renderings (Adobe Photoshop).
  • Ability to create presentations and support the design process.
  • Availability to work up to 4 days per week in an on-site capacity (in Los Angeles).
  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn, passionate about design.
  • Communication: Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Positive attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the team.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to take on a mix of creative and administrative responsibilities.
  • Interest in home goods, design, and sustainability, aligning with Caraway's brand mission.

The base hourly pay for this role is $20.00. Final compensation may depend on a variety of factors determining the base pay at offer, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, experience.
