Job description

Position Summary

The Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring the activities in the Boulevard Towers Apartments swimming areas in an effort to prevent accidents and to provide assistance and guidance to swimmers.  This is a seasonal position beginning the last week of May 2026 and running through the first weekend in September 2026.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Monitors all swimming activities and provides direction to swimmers regarding unsafe areas
  2. Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid as needed
  3. Ensures all pool visitors are following pool rules and have authorized access
  4. Responsible for the upkeep of the pool, including vacuuming and cleaning
  5. Tests pool chemical levels, logs the results, and treats pool according to test results
  6. Maintains appearance and cleanliness of bathrooms and areas surrounding the pool, including the replenishment of supplies and the set-up of chairs
  7. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as required


Required Qualifications
Education, Training and or/ Experience
Less than high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with relevant experience or training in swimming and safety practices. Certifications as a lifeguard, in CPR, and in First Aid are required.

Physical Demands
The nature of work requires an ability to communicate and exchange information and operate general pool equipment and cleaning supplies. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time as well as to swim, be on one's feet, climb and balance, bend, kneel, and reach, as well as an ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an apartment community pool facility. Individuals will be frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet, warm and humid environments, pool chemicals, and a relatively loud working environment.
