Hours of Work/Schedule: Monday to Friday, 35 Hours per week

Position Reports To:  Interim Director EPESI

Salary Range: Annualized salary range $65,000 - $75,000 commensurate on skills and experience, plus participation in HOOPP.

Primary Work Location: Oshawa & Pickering, ON (required to work at any of DCHC's locations as required)

Organization

Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a registered, charitable organization that provides integrated, accessible, and equitable community-based primary care, wellness services, and health education to Durham community members who face multiple barriers to their health and well-being.

DCHC also provides equity-based programs and services that focus on priority populations such as Indigenous, Black, the 2SLGBTQI Community, Newcomers to Canada, Seniors, and Unattached patients (i.e., those without a family doctor), to name a few. DCHC ensures Durham community members receive not only sick care, but preventive care as well.

Position Overview

Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Data Analyst - EPESI - to support our multi-site organization across Durham Region.

Reporting to the Interim Director, EPESI, the Data Analyst plays a key role in delivering data-driven insights and business intelligence to support strategic goals and enhance client care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, a passion for healthcare analytics, and excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills.

The Data Analyst will lead the development and maintenance of systems and processes for data collection and reporting, contribute to key performance indicator (KPI) development, and ensure data quality and integrity across the organization. This role involves extracting and analyzing data, preparing reports and presentations, and collaborating with internal teams to develop dashboards and scorecards.

As a member of the EPESI Team, the Data Analyst will work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to interpret data and identify opportunities for improvement. The role also involves collaboration with Finance and Talent & Culture teams to support evidence-based decision-making and knowledge sharing.

Externally, the Data Analyst will liaise with organizations such as the Alliance for Healthier Communities, Ontario Health East, and the Durham Ontario Health Team to fulfill reporting obligations.

This position promotes a culture of teamwork, enthusiasm, and commitment to data quality-critical to delivering excellent client care and demonstrating the impact of our Community Health Centre. The Data Analyst will support DCHC's Quality and Performance Strategy by standardizing data practices, producing actionable insights, and guiding performance monitoring efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret data to support strategic decision-making and knowledge development.
  • Extract and integrate data from multiple systems into usable formats.
  • Support clinical and non-clinical teams with statistical analysis, benchmarking, and data visualization.
  • Deliver routine and ad hoc reports in user-friendly formats for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical expertise for strategic initiatives, business cases, quality improvement, and evaluation projects.
  • Develop and refine performance indicators and metrics.
  • Design and run queries and reports using JReports, SQL, and/or Cognos.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools to create dashboards and scorecards.
  • Implement innovative reporting tools and visualizations to enhance data usability.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for database and reporting development.
  • Consult with staff on data and reporting needs aligned with the Enterprise Quality and Performance Strategy.
  • Promote data literacy by educating staff on interpreting and using data for decision-making.
  • Maintain technical documentation and reporting protocols.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Support process standardization and tool development for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through best practices and regular audits.
  • Adhere to internal policies, including confidentiality protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the MS Office suite.
  • Certification in database management is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in database management and business data analysis.
  • Experience with Telus PS Suite and other database systems.
  • Ability to align data analysis with strategic goals.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to evaluate system needs and implement data solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a community-based, interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience in adult education and delivering training is an asset.
  • Experience in healthcare, community health centres, or the non-profit sector is an asset.
