Job description

  The GIS Technician is responsible for providing excellent service to our customers, shareholders, and employees by assisting with the creation and maintenance of the Company distribution mapping and GIS data. The GIS Technician has primary responsibilities in the following areas:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

       Performs GIS editing in support of the ongoing Basic-to-Advanced mapping projects.

       Performs GIS editing to add as-built information from completed, developer water main extensions, new service assets, and capital water main projects.

       Performs GIS editing to reflect maintenance activity, such as asset replacement.

       Provides support for Engineering in GIS design of WISC water main projects (Water Infrastructure Surcharge projects)

       Responds to requests for information pertaining to GIS distribution mapping and facilities.

       Adds and populates new attributes within the Geodatabase.

       Completes field GPS collection, support, and training.

       Completes field locating water system assets.

       Assists the operations field staff with GIS technical support.

       Performs special projects as assigned.

       Performs other duties as assigned.
