Job Summary

The Online Geography Instructor is responsible for teaching geography courses in a fully online environment using the D2L Brightspace learning management system. This position requires effective communication, timely responsiveness to students, and accurate recordkeeping and reporting. Candidates must hold a master’s degree in Geography, Geosciences, or a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Geography or Geosciences. Preference is given to candidates with a master’s degree in Geography or Geosciences, previous online teaching experience, and proficiency with D2L Brightspace. Applicants must be Tennessee residents and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and student support skills.

Job Duties

  • Teach geography courses in an online format using the learning management system (LMS) D2L Brightspace.
  • Instruction and Student Engagement.
  • Assessment and Grading.
  • Student Support and Communication.
  • Technology and Platform Management.
  • Adhere to Institutional policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Geography or Geosciences or master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of Geography or Geosciences.
Must be state of TN resident.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a Geography or Geosciences.
Previous online teaching experience desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge teaching in Brightspace (D2L).
Good communication skills.
Ability to respond in timely manner to students.
Promptness in reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
