Job description

RN - Mother Baby

Mother Baby RN 3x12 DAYS 7a-7p, weekdays, every other weekend. The Mother/Baby floor is a 21 private room unit. We care for postpartum moms, stable antepartum, and well or slightly ill newborns. The nurses are trained to work the floor and in the NBN. In the NBN, we manage mild RDS, newborn hypoglycemia, cardiac monitoring, phototherapy, IV antibiotics as well as managing NAS babies going through withdrawal. We deliver approximately 2800 patients a year. The Mother/Baby unit also services the breast-feeding families that may require additional help while in the hospital and post discharge. We have two full time certified lactation specialist on staff.

Orientation held every other week on Thursday/Friday then report to unit. Ratios: 1:6 for DAYS; 1:8 for NIGHTS. Experience Required: 2 Years of RN Experience Required; 1 Year in-specialty Experience required. First-timers NOT accepted Mgr wants experienced travelers. Every other weekend required. Patient Diagnoses: Postpartum; Antepartum; NAS; Hyperbilrubinemia; Neonatal Sepsis; LPI; SGA; LGA; Hypoglycemia. Certs Required: BLS; NRP and CLC PREFERRED. No call requirement. RN Can be floated within scope to meet facilities needs when required. Open to accommodating block schedule requests - discuss in interview. WV/Compact RN License required - can submit with pending RN license but must have WV/Compact license active to start. No RTO restrictions; just discuss requests during interview. Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48hr/week options - discuss with manager.

Skills Required: Antepartum; Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum; NST, Reflex Checks/Edema Assessment/Clonus, Use of EGM; Administration of blood & blood products; Maintain central lines (CVC / PICC); Start & maintain peripheral IV; Anticonvulsants, Antihypertensives, Heparin, Pitocin; Newborn Care General Skills (Assist with Circumcision/Assess site post-op, Car Seat Education, Cord Care; Discharge teaching to parents, Infant identification, IV Antibiotics, Metabolic Screen, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment, Phototherapy, Teach Circumcision care to parents, Thermoregulation).

Submission Requirements: Flu Shot: Please DO NOT SEND ANYONE WHO REFUSES FLU SHOT WITHOUT MEDICAL PROOF. CAMC requires all personnel take flu vaccine unless they have allergy documented by an allergist or physician record. CAMC FLU SEASON IS OCTOBER 1st - MARCH 31st. NOT REQUIRED OUTSIDE OF THAT WINDOW. Covid Vaccine NOT required. ONE PDF MUST CONTAIN: Candidate profile (work history), Specialty specific skills checklist, Min. 2 Mgr/Charge References (within past 2yrs.), RN Lic. verification (NURSYs pulled within 2 days of sub date clean lic. required hits submitted for case-by-case basis approval), Driver's License, SSN.
