Job description

Summary/Objective

This position is an Athletic Training Assistant position. This position is responsible for setting up facilities for practices and/or games, traveling and attending all football practices and games, assisting with the athletics recovery room and athletic training room when needed, assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with administrative tasks as needed. This position will assist the athletic department under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.

Essential Job Duties

Provides setup services to all sports practices and games as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Travels with football and attend practices as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Assist and maintain scanned medical documents and upload them to appropriate databases as needed.

Maintains and provides supervision when needed in the athletics recovery room assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Provides first aid, taping, and bandaging at the direction of a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Assist Head Athletic Trainer in management of secondary insurance claims and processing.

Assist Head Athletic Trainer in management of budget and ordering supplies.

Attended required meetings and appointments as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Assist with weekend events as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Adheres to the Department of Athletic Training's Policy and Procedure manual.

Regular attendance and punctuality.

Sets an example of a Christian lifestyle for students, staff and faculty.

Commitment and adherence to Southwest Baptist University's Principles and Expectations.

Provides day-to-day needs and tasks associated to the athletic training room.

Position Requirements

CPR with American Red Cross certification

First Aid training

Work Environment

Must be able to work in athletic training room environment. Must be able to travel with athletic teams and be present for athletic events. Must be available for night and weekend responsibilities.

Physical Abilities

Be able to withstand outdoor and indoor environmental conditions day or night such as heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, wind, sun, etc.

Prolonged standing and/or sitting 5-8 hours.

Be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs from ground to shoulder height repeatedly / daily.

Be able to sprint or run 200-300 yards.

Be able to bend, stoop, extend, flex, rotate at the ankles, knees, trunk, shoulders, and cervical regions to perform service duties.
