Job description

Become a volunteer at the Calla Residence in the Saint-Sacrement district of Quebec City. Are you kind-hearted and enjoy interacting with older people? Join our lovely Calla family to offer moments of presence and joy to our residents. Your role (in collaboration with the recreation therapist at the residence): Keeping company with residents who are bored (chatting, listening, building relationships). Facilitating or co-facilitating simple activities: board games, music, reading, crafts, gardening, quizzes, bingo, indoor walking, coffee meetups. Assisting during internal leisure activities (setting up the room, welcoming residents, tidying up). Providing a helping hand during special events (parties, seasonal events, kiosks, etc.). No caregiving tasks are required. Activities are planned and supervised with the recreation specialist. What we are looking for: Empathy, respect, patience and good listening skills. Reliability, punctuality and team spirit. Comfortable working with people who may have cognitive impairments. Flexible availability (a few hours per week or per month). Mandatory requirement: No criminal record. A criminal record check will be required before assuming the position.
