From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That's where you come in!

Play Content Manager

We Create Entertainment That Inspires Creativity, Sparks Connection, and Builds Community.

At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. Magic: The Gathering is the world's premier trading card game, bringing together millions of players through tabletop play, digital experiences, and world-class events.

As the Play Content Manager, you will help shape how players experience Magic through organized play, community programs, and live events. You'll lead content planning and execution across Magic.gg and digital channels, crafting compelling stories that celebrate players, communities, events, and the many ways people experience Magic through play.

Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you'll develop content that helps players discover, participate in, and celebrate Magic play experiences across both our competitive play system and in-store play programs.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the content calendar and publishing roadmap for Play content across Magic.gg and supporting channels.
  • Develop and publish content that highlights players, communities, events, and play experiences across Magic's competitive and in-store play programs.
  • Manage editorial content including event guides, decklists, feature stories, community spotlights, tournament coverage, event recaps, and other player-facing communications.
  • Produce and edit short-form video and social content using event, livestream, and other assets.
  • Identify compelling stories, moments, and achievements that can be transformed into engaging editorial, video, and social content.
  • Partner with event, tournament operations, and communications to support content before, during, and after live events.
  • Manage freelance writers and other external contributors.
  • Provide editorial direction and ensure content meets quality, accuracy, and brand standards.

  • Use audience insights and performance metrics to continuously improve content impact and engagement.
What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years of experience in content management, editorial, journalism, digital content production creative development, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Magic: The Gathering, including organized play, community play experiences, and the broader player community.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 8-10 times per year and usually on weekends.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, storytelling, and communication skills.
  • Experience crafting, editing, or producing written, visual, or video content for digital audiences, including short-form video content.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, contributors, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, up to and including hour-by-hour or even minute-by-minute deadlines.
  • Experience working with content management systems, digital publishing tools, and content performance metrics.
  • Experience working with freelancers, creators, agencies, vendors, or external contributors.
