Discourse Power: Speech & Debate Academy located in Mountain House, CA (30 minutes from Livermore, CA)
About Us:

At Discourse Power, we believe in the transformative power of speech and debate. After completing two years of operations, we are now expanding and hiring a speech and debate coach. At Discourse Power, student development is a priority. Therefore, our coaches emphasize building confidence and skills gradually through structured practice and supportive feedback. Through our speech and debate programs, we aim to cultivate critical thinking, effective communication, and a passion for learning. We are now expanding and hiring a speech and debate coach for our in-person Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 Semesters. Our once-a-week classes take place at Mountain House on weekdays. Extra practice takes place on weekends through Zoom.


POSITION SUMMARY

Debate Coaching responsibilities: Present topic analysis, generate a discussion on affirming and negating contentions, suggest arguments, case Structure, help students build strong research skills, card cutting, flowing, implementing speech strategies, framework comprehension, plan drills for class and tournaments prep, and organize 1:1 mock debate. Self-Starter, solid understanding of Lincoln-Douglas/Public Forum debate fundamentals. Strong in research, case building, rebuttal, and persuasive techniques. Strong organizational skills, enabling the creation of techniques tailored to different learning styles of students. Students' evaluation and providing constructive feedback. Teach persuasion techniques and skills, such as adapting to judges' styles during debate rounds.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a part-time job based on an hourly rate.

Qualification/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or in progress toward obtaining a bachelor’s degree. 3-4 years of coaching experience or competing in debate events such as Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum. High School seniors with 3 to 4 years of experience in competing are welcome to apply. An organized and strategic planner who is strong in interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: Hourly rate dependent on the experience and qualifications.
