Temporary Allied Sports Commissioner

Classification Title: Temporary

DESCRIPTION

In support of Priority 2 and 5 the person in this position will coordinate with the Director of Athletics and Activities, AAM's, Allied Coaches and community partners to deliver an Allied sports program that includes Soccer, Bowling, Softball and Golf. The commissioner will make sure the necessary equipment is available, build schedules and secure bowling and golf venues for Allied Athletics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all qualifications below to be considered for the temporary position.

Education:

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • Two years certificated professional experience instructing students within Adaptive Physical Education (APE) or closely aligned special education programs.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The below list is a summary of the functions of the job, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible job responsibilities, tasks, and duties.

  • Build schedules, communicate with coaches

  • Secure venues for Bowling and Golf

  • Order equipment, organize and run end of season Allied Sports Championships

Compensation: The hourly rate of pay is $ 35.00 per hour.

Rates are determined by the current budget allocations of the Howard County Public School System. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Working Environment

  • Requires candidate to be outdoors for long periods of time

Physical Requirements

  • Moving athletic equipment - setting up equipment for contests

Working Hours

  • Requires attendance at allied athletic events that take place after the contracted work day.

  • Work hours may vary.
