Position Summary
Eagle Ridge Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered High School Mock Trial Coach to lead and grow our competitive Mock Trial program. The coach will inspire students to develop critical thinking, public speaking, legal reasoning, collaboration, and leadership skills while preparing them for successful competition. The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring students in a challenging yet supportive environment that reflects the school's commitment to academic excellence and character development.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct all Mock Trial practices throughout the season.
  • Prepare students for regional, state, and invitational Mock Trial competitions.
  • Teach courtroom procedures, trial strategy, legal analysis, witness preparation, and public speaking skills.
  • Assign and develop student roles including attorneys, witnesses, and team leaders.
  • Foster teamwork, professionalism, integrity, and respect among team members.
  • Coordinate competition schedules, travel logistics, and communication with students and families.
  • Recruit and retain student participants while promoting the Mock Trial program throughout the school.
  • Collaborate with school administration, faculty, and legal professionals to enhance program quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all school policies and Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) regulations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, communication, and program records.
  • Supervise students during practices, competitions, and all team activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience in law, legal studies, government, debate, education, or a related field.
  • Previous coaching, teaching, or mentoring experience with high school students preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate students while creating a positive, inclusive team culture.
  • Successful completion of required background check and coaching certifications.
