Position Overview:
 

CVS Health is hiring a Float Registered Nurse (RN) to support its Vaccination Support Initiative across designated CVS retail locations in the Springfield, Illinois area. This role is responsible for providing safe, high-quality immunization services while delivering exceptional patient-centered care in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and experienced in vaccine administration, patient assessments, medication administration, and preventive healthcare. This position requires flexibility to float between assigned clinic locations based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer CDC-recommended vaccines, including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19  
    • MMR
    • Hepatitis  
    • Tdap  
    • Pneumonia  
    • Shingles  
    • RSV
    • Other routine adult and pediatric immunizations
  • Perform comprehensive pre-vaccination assessments and patient screenings.
  • Review medical history, allergies, contraindications, and vaccine eligibility.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, post-vaccination care, booster schedules, and CDC immunization recommendations.
  • Monitor patients during the post-vaccination observation period and respond promptly to adverse reactions or emergencies.
  • Administer medications safely according to physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Accurately document vaccine administration, patient encounters, and clinical information while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain vaccine inventory, storage requirements, cold-chain integrity, and infection prevention standards.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Float to designated CVS retail locations as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care and customer service.
  • Promote preventive healthcare, wellness initiatives, and positive patient experiences within the community. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience, including immunization/vaccination administration
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient education skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced retail healthcare setting
  • Flexibility to float between clinic locations as required
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or GED
