Job Description:
The Manager of Education Services - Clinical provides operational and clinical leadership for Tennessee Oncology's simulation-based education program. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Clinical Simulation Center, development and delivery of simulation curriculum, and oversight of clinical educators supporting simulation initiatives.
Working collaboratively with Clinical Services leaders, the Manager designs innovative, competency-based learning experiences that strengthen clinical skills, standardize practice, improve patient safety, and support excellence in patient care. This position serves as the organization's primary leader for simulation education while partnering with the Director of Education Services on broader educational strategy and organizational initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Simulation Leadership
- Manages the daily operations of the Clinical Simulation Center, ensuring a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates simulation-based education programs that support clinical competency, onboarding, annual validation, and professional development.
- Designs realistic simulation scenarios using evidence-based practices and adult learning principles.
- Facilitates simulation sessions, debriefings, skills validation, and competency assessments.
- Serves as the organization's clinical simulation subject matter expert and resource for simulation methodology.
- Coordinates standardized patient experiences, simulation schedules, equipment, and faculty support.
- Overseessimulation technology, task trainers, manikins, audiovisual systems, and simulation inventory.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance, vendor relationships, and replacement planning.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provides direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for Clinical Services educators supporting simulation and clinical education.
- Establishes team priorities, assigns work, and monitors progress toward departmental goals.
- Promotes collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the education team.
- Supports recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of education staff.
- Assists the Director of Education Services in departmental planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
Education & Program Development
- Collaborates with nursing leadership, operations, physicians, pharmacy, research, and other clinical departments to identify educational needs.
- Developsstandardized competency programs and simulation curricula that align with organizational goals.
- Supports implementation of new clinical workflows, technologies, equipment, and evidence-based practices through simulation and hands-on training.
- Evaluates program effectiveness using learner feedback, competency outcomes, quality metrics, and operational performance data.
- Maintains documentation of simulation activities, competency validation, attendance, and continuing education records.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partners with operational and clinical leaders to improve patient safety, clinical quality, and team readiness through simulation.
- Serves as an internal consultant for workflow improvement, process redesign, and competency development.
- Utilizes performance data, root cause analysis, and quality improvement principles to recommend educational interventions.
- Supports organizational initiatives and special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee.
- Minimum of four (4) years of clinical education experience, including simulation-based education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership or management experience.
- Experience designing, facilitating, and evaluating simulation programs.
- Experience with competency validation and adult learning methodologies.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Nursing, Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE or CHSE-A) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of eligibility.
- Oncology nursing experience.
- ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certification (or obtain within organizational requirements).
- Experience with simulation technology, audiovisual systems, and learning management systems.
