How does PRN hospice work?

A PRN hospice nurse RN works on an as-needed basis, providing care to patients in a hospice setting when scheduled or called upon. This role offers flexibility, allowing nurses to choose shifts based on patient needs, and requires maintaining proper licensure and certifications such as CPR and hospice care training.

What is the 80/20 rule in hospice?

In hospice care, the 80/20 rule often refers to the principle that 80% of patient care time is spent on direct patient needs, while 20% is dedicated to documentation, coordination, and administrative tasks. For PRN nurse RNs, understanding this balance helps prioritize patient-centered care while managing workload efficiently.
