Job description

NOW HIRING: SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER & CONTENT CREATOR

TradeWorx Academy + The Grout Genie
Fairfax, Virginia (Located inside Fair Oaks Mall)

We are seeking a creative, organized, and highly dependable Social Media Manager and Content Creator to manage content for two growing home improvement brands.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can take an idea from concept to completion, including planning content, filming workshops and jobsite projects, editing videos, creating graphics, writing captions, publishing posts, and helping us build a stronger and more consistent online presence.

This is not a remote position. The right candidate must be available for on-site content creation at our Fair Oaks Mall training facility and occasional field videography at residential project locations throughout Northern Virginia.

ABOUT OUR BRANDS
TradeWorx Academy provides hands-on home improvement workshops that teach homeowners, teens, and aspiring tradespeople practical skills in areas such as power tools, plumbing, electrical, tile, drywall, and more.

The Grout Genie is a residential tile, grout, shower restoration, and remodeling company serving homeowners throughout Northern Virginia.

The content needs for each brand are different, but both require strong storytelling, professional visuals, consistent branding, and content that builds trust and generates interest.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a consistent social media content calendar for both brands.
  • Film workshops, instructors, students, completed projects, behind-the-scenes footage, testimonials, and educational content.
  • Capture on-site video and photos at TradeWorx Academy and selected Grout Genie project locations.
  • Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
  • Create professional graphics, promotional posts, workshop announcements, and branded marketing materials.
  • Write engaging captions, hooks, calls to action, and promotional copy.
  • Schedule and publish content across company social media accounts.
  • Repurpose existing videos and photos into new content.
  • Identify content opportunities during workshops, events, and field projects.
  • Help promote workshops, special events, training programs, services, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Monitor comments, messages, engagement, and basic social media performance.
  • Recommend content ideas based on trends, audience response, and business goals.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all posts, graphics, videos, and written content.
  • Organize and manage photo and video files for future use.
  • Coordinate with ownership, instructors, technicians, and other team members to capture needed content.
  • Ensure all content is accurate, professional, and approved before publishing.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Strong experience creating short-form social media content.
  • Ability to film and edit professional-looking video using a smartphone, camera, or both.
  • Experience with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Proficiency with editing and design tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar programs.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create natural, engaging captions and marketing copy.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially with dates, times, pricing, spelling, links, and brand information.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, meet deadlines, and follow through without constant supervision.
  • Comfortable directing people during filming and helping them feel natural on camera.
  • Willingness to work on-site as well as travel locally for selected content shoots.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Professional, dependable, responsive, and easy to work with.
  • Ability to manage content for two related but distinct brands.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong experience in Wix website management and Wix Bookings (This is a must).
  • Previous experience managing social media for a small business, service company, training organization, contractor, or local brand.
  • Experience filming events, educational content, home improvement projects, or behind-the-scenes business content.
  • Understanding of social media analytics, audience growth, and lead-generating content.
  • Familiarity with paid social media advertising.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Experience creating content that balances education, promotion, personality, and storytelling.

A formal degree is not required. A strong portfolio, proven content skills, good judgment, and reliable execution are more important.

IMPORTANT
This position requires someone who is comfortable doing the actual work of content creation. We are not looking for someone who only develops strategy or schedules pre-existing content.

The ideal candidate can walk into a workshop or project, recognize what should be captured, film it effectively, turn it into engaging content, and ensure it is published accurately and on time.

POSITION DETAILS:
  • Position Type: Part-time with opportunity to move into a Full-time role
  • Location: Fairfax, Virginia, with occasional local travel
  • Schedule: Flexible, but availability will be required during selected workshops, events, and project hours
  • Compensation: $20 - $25

HOW TO APPLY:
Please submit the following:
  • Resume
  • Portfolio or links to social media accounts, videos, graphics, or campaigns you have created
  • Brief summary of your experience
  • Availability
  • Compensation expectations
  • A short explanation of why you would be a good fit for this role

Applications without examples of previous work may not be considered.
