Job description

OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: Social Media & Website Content Assistant

LOCATION: St. Paul Campus

PAY: $16.50/Hour

HOURS: Flexible, ~15/week

JOB SUMMARY:

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is looking for a creative social media & website content assistant to join our marketing communications team. In this role, you will help leverage CAS communications channels to inform, inspire and build community with students, alumni, donors, parents, faculty, staff and outside audiences.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to start by 9/15/2026 and assume a 12-15hr/week schedule for the fall '26 term. We provide a flexible schedule that includes training, guidance and support. A major in a related field or other related work experience is preferred but not required.

The Social Media & Website Content Assistant reports to the CAS Content Manager and will collaborate with people from across the College while building strong strategic communication, writing, and design skills through a variety of assignments.

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to overall CAS social media strategy and use the Hootsuite application to regularly schedule and create social media content for CAS channels: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn
    • Grow channel reach and engagement
    • Monitor CAS social media channels on a regular basis
  • Provide graphic design support using Canva
    • Social media graphics
    • Ads and flyers promoting events and academic programs
  • Update CAS websites using the Cascade content management system (training provided)

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Full or part-time St. Thomas undergrad or grad student. Students pursuing degrees in English, Communication Studies, Digital Media Arts, Journalism, Strategic Communication, Business Communication and Marketing Management are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Robust understanding of social media platforms and ability to schedule, create and publish content that conforms to CAS strategy.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Self-motivated and curious.
  • Detail-oriented and dependable.
  • Excellent communication and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
