About the role
Louis Industries is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Intern to support our team with routine equipment upkeep, troubleshooting, and automation support. This role is perfect for students enrolled in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation Technician, or related programs who want real-world experience working with CNC machinery, robotics, and modern manufacturing systems.
What you'll do
Equipment & Automation Support
  • Assist with basic mechanical repairs, adjustments, and part replacements
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and automation issues with guidance from experienced technicians
  • Support maintenance on CNC lasers, press brakes, welders, robots, and automated systems
  • Perform routine PM tasks (cleaning, greasing, oil/filter changes, inspections)
  • Assist with equipment setups, tear-downs, moves, and calibration or sensor checks

Learning & Hands-On Development
  • Shadow technicians during diagnostics, repairs, and new equipment installations
  • Gain exposure to robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and automation controls
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and learn how maintenance supports uptime and production flow

Currently enrolled in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation Technician, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or a similar technical program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with tools and safety practices (HVAC, robotics, pneumatics, electrical basics, etc. is a plus)
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work hands-on in a manufacturing environment
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and able to follow instructions
